Release Nagappa: Kolathur Mani

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE SEPT. 3. Kolathur Mani, who was arrested on charges of supplying arms and ammunition to the forest brigand, Veerappan, has appealed to the bandit to release the former Minister, H. Nagappa, on humanitarian grounds, without setting any conditions.

Mani, lodged in the Bellary Central Prison, has sent an audio cassette in Tamil, appealing to Veerappan to release Mr. Nagappa as he was an elderly and sick man. The cassette, along with its transcript in English, and countersigned by the jail superintendent, was taken from the prison by Mani's younger brother, Palaniswamy. The State Government helped him to take the cassette to AIR station, Coimbatore, for broadcast, sources said.
