The victims, Prabhakar and Khaleel Ahamed, are both BBA students of the Vysya college, and the former has been admitted to the Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital. The Ammapet police have registered a case. In their complaint to the police, the college students have stated that following the students strike on August 26 protesting videography being taken by the management in classrooms and the ``vituperative language'' being used by the by the correspondent against students, parents and staff, the college was closed indefinitely. The college management sent letters to the parents asking them to attend a meeting convened for September 6 and 7. However, Prabhakar and Khaleel Ahamed's parents did not receive the letters. The students went to the college to collect it. They were allowed inside by the vice-principal. They were then said to have been beaten with a whip. Meanwhile, parents, management representatives and the RDO, Mani, met. The parents of the girl students attended the meeting yesterday, while the parents of the boy students today. However, the correspondent skipped both meetings. Following the meetings, it had been decided to constitute a fact-finding committee comprising representatives of the management, parents and students, a retired judge, a retired Superintendent of Police or Deputy Superintendent of Police to look into the issue and take steps for reopening of the college.
