Cauvery: T.N. moves SC

NEW DELHI Sept. 11. The Tamil Nadu Government today moved the Supreme Court for a direction to quash the `ad hoc' decision of the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, heading the Cauvery River Authority (CRA), in asking Karnataka to release 9,000 cusecs (about 0.8 tmcft) of water daily to Mettur reservoir.

The application which is likely to be `mentioned' tomorrow for early hearing also prays for a direction to Karnataka to ensure that 1.25 tmcft of water per day is made available as per the September 3 order of the court.
