Naidu calls for consensus on disinvestment policy

By Our Staff Reporter

Tanuku Sept. 13. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday called upon the NDA partners to shed differences over the disinvestment policy and arrive at a consensus on the ongoing reform initiatives.

Addressing newspersons here, he said the lack of consensus on disinvestment in public undertakings would deliver a serious blow to the reform process in the country. The TDP was of the firm view that the reforms were only a panacea for all the economic ills confronting the country.

Mr. Naidu highlighted the need for the Centre to accelerate the pace of reforms. Referring to the apprehensions of the Union Defence Minister, George Fernandes, that disinvestment in certain areas like the oil sector would cause security concerns, the Chief Minister wanted the NDA leadership to remove such apprehensions at the earliest.
