Oil price hike

NEW DELHI SEPT. 15. The public sector oil companies today announced a hike in the prices of petrol and diesel to offset the firming up of prices in the world markets. The increase is roughly 50 paise in the case of petrol and 40 for diesel, but varies from State to State depending on excise and other State levies.

The international oil markets have hardened in recent weeks reflecting fears about a U.S. strike on Iraq.
