ONGC, APTDC websites defaced

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD SEPT. 16. The websites of the Andhra Pradesh Technology Development and Promotion Centre and the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) were among 58 sites defaced in sustained digital attacks by hackers on Monday.

The World's Fantabulous Defacers (WFD) which vandalised seven sites, including ongcindia.com and aptdc.com, put a message denouncing the Finance Minister, Jaswant Singh, and pasted several photographs of people allegedly killed by Indian troops in Kashmir.

The photographs keep appearing in a box (the WFD apparently used Flash software) along with a strongly worded message denouncing India. If the Indian attitude on Kashmir continued "then the time is not far when a war will be waged", the WFD said.

The other defaced sites which feature similar warnings include avinashilingam.edu, liquidviewer.com and loyola-jsr.org.

Another hacker group, ISOTK (In Search of The Knowledge) targeted a server, leading to a mass defacement of 51 Indian sites.

However, the web master of ongcindia.com was quick to rehost the original homepage, while aptdc.com continues to be defaced.
