SC poser on ordinance

NEW DELHI SEPT. 16. The recent Presidential ordinance, neutralising an Election Commission order on candidates' background, was today challenged in the Supreme Court, which asked the Government whether it had the power to supersede the court's directions on the issue.

The poser came on a petition filed by the People's Union of Civil Liberties challenging the ordinance.
