Letters to the Editor
Sir, Conducting free and fair polls, whether in Gujarat or Jammu and Kashmir, seems to be an arduous task as even in the preliminary stages, there is so much bloodshed and hue and cry that the purpose of holding elections is defeated. It is ironical that the polls are being conducted to establish peace which is exactly what is lacking during the process. The reasons for such cataclysmic results are obvious. The current scenario of elections is a mockery of free and fair polls and care should be taken to conduct them. Richa Joshi, Lucknow
