Free medical aid for 450 poor children

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE Sept. 20. The Positive Health Clinic Ltd. is offering free medical treatment to 450 underprivileged children of Christel House India, a non-government organisation here.

Batra of the clinic told presspersons here on Thursday that complete healthcare would be provided to the children through regular health check-ups and periodic follow-ups. Several children of Christel House were suffering from immunity disorders, insomnia and even bed-wetting, he said.

The clinic would treat the children with homoeopathic medicines. The employees of the clinic would contribute one per cent of their monthly salary for the welfare of the children. The doctors of the clinic would spend an hour a week with the children, he added.

The Managing Director of Christel House India, Shukla Bose, said that the objective of Christel House was to help orphaned, abandoned and underprivileged children and provide them with an opportunity to lead quality life.

The Christel House Learning Centre was giving education to the 450 children studying in various classes starting from LKG to IV Standard. It had evolved an innovative method of teaching in Kannada and English.

The organisation was spending Rs.36,000 per annum on each student, which included teachers' salary, she added.

Amid a number of cultural, psychological and other challenges it had been conducting student-parent meeting regularly. It had rehabilitated a number of women who were alcoholics, she said.

It recently launched a website (www.christelhousindia.org) for interacting with people interested in its cause. In the initial stages, these children had behavioural problems.

But they started behaving in a normal way when they were assured of their daily food. They then showed keen interest in learning too, she said.

Christel House India is situated at 150/25, Kodegehalli Main Road, Sahakara Nagar Post, Bangalore. It can be contacted on Ph: 3539147, 3635089, fax 3635461, email: christelhouse@vsnl.com.
