Confirming his decision to leave the organisation, Mr. Adam told The Hindu that "I am keeping the options open.'' Nevertheless, he indicated that "he is looking at opportunities to chart out a new path to work overseas.'' Ashwin Muthiah, Vice-Chairman of the group, told this correspondent that Mr. Adam would continue to be a consultant for SICAL. Mr. Adam would indeed play a key role in strategic issues related to the growth plans of SICAL, Mr. Muthiah said. Mr. Muthiah said the current Vice-President of SICAL, Ram Kumar, was now made Chief Operating Officer (Logistics). He would report to Mr. Muthiah. Mr. Muthiah felt that the void created by Mr. Adam's resignation would not upset the normal operational functions of the organisation. Since SICAL was through an organisation revamp now, Mr. Muthiah said there was no move at the moment to fill the vacant slot of Managing Director.
