In a police complaint, Ranadeep Gosh, a student of M.R. Medical College in Gulbarga, alleged that his lover and her friends also relieved him of Rs. 70,000. The Superintendent of Police, Alok Kumar, told presspersons on Fiday that Ranadeep from West Bengal was in love with a Punjabi girl studying in the Pharmacy College here for the past three years. The incident occurred on Wednesday when the youth started packing his things to go to his native place without informing the girl. However, the latter came to know about it and sent her classmates, Saurab, Vikram, and Amit, and a local youth, Dheeraj, to kidnap Ranadeep and his servant. Mr. Kumar said the team kidnapped Ranadeep and his servant and kept them in a house. The kidnappers allegedly demanded Rs. 3 lakh from Ranadeep, the amount spent by the girl on him for the past three years. However, the kidnappers freed Ranadeep and his servant after he gave them Rs. 70,000. All five persons, including the girl, have been arrested.
