Centre for amicable solution to issue: Advani

Bhubaneswar Sept. 21. With the Cauvery water dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka threatening to escalate, the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, today said the Centre favoured a ``harmonious'' settlement of the issue.

``We will like the matter to be sorted out harmoniously between the two States.

The Centre told the Karnataka Government to adhere to the Cauvery River Authority's decision to release water to Tamil Nadu,'' Mr. Advani told reporters here.

Reporters had sought his comments on the issue.
