Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Special Correspondent
That was the Chief Minister, N.Chandrababu Naidu, practitioner of the Art of Living, speaking to his young brigade. "Seek no power, no money, be good'' was the message. Addressing the valedictory function of Telugu Yuvatha's three-day Art of Living basic course in which the young TD leaders were taught how to breathe properly here on Saturday, the Chief Minister cautioned them against committing misdeeds. The Government had taken up programmes like Neeru Meeru and tried to increase greenery and effort was made to increase the water tables. Power generation, too, had gone up. Unfortunately, drought was playing havoc with the State. "But the effort must go on till drought is overcome,'' he said. The only way the TD could distinguish itself from other parties like the Congress was by rendering good work and the Telugu Yuvatha had the potential to transform the lives of people at grassroot level, he said. ``Credibility does not come in one day. It takes a long time to acquire it. And it is easier to lose it in a day. So, continue dedicated work in the best interest of society. Materialistic benefits will not give you peace. Money, fame, position and assets will not give you happiness. The only thing that brings smile on your face is a deep sense of inner satisfaction which comes from social service,'' he said. A new awakening was needed among the youth and TDP was striving its best to promote new values in society through various programmes. The effort of the Government was to make people become aware of their potential and use it as a positive energy for the development of society. Mr.Naidu decried development that did not make people happy. "Development is that work that gives peace and happiness to people. We are experimenting a lot and trying to build different skills. A new society needs to be shaped and it is we who must give it a new structure,'' he said. He asked Telugu Yuvatha leaders to form committees in all mandals to carry the message of Art of Living across and bring happiness to one and all. ``I was once suffering from spondilitis. I was asked to sleep on a wooden bench. I did and initially felt a great discomfort. But after three days it gave me relief. To this day I continue to do so. I find happiness only in that wooden bench and not in comfortable or luxurious bed. Seek the inner truth. It will give you great comfort,'' was his final benediction to them.
