Madhuri Thathachari, managing trustee of the Bhramara Trust, which has instituted the award in memory of Prof. Thathachari, said it so far donated Rs. 17 lakhs for building laboratories, classrooms and library, besides helping the needy for medical treatment with funds. It was also honouring scientists annually for their work. This was the first time an award was given for excellence in music and it would be an annual feature. The president of the Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti; R. Yagna Raman, secretary, and the trust committee member, T.R. Subramaniam, felicitated Shrinivas, who thanked the trust for honouring him.
