Woman Chief Secretary for State

HYDERABAD SEPT. 21. Andhra Pradesh will, in the next few days, have a woman at the helm of the administration.

Sathi Nair, a senior IAS officer of the 1966 batch, is being appointed Chief Secretary to the Government. Mrs. Nair is presently Chief Commissioner of Land Administration in the rank of Special Chief Secretary.

She will succeed K. Swaminathan, who is understood to have requested the Government for a change on health grounds.

Mr. Swaminathan is being appointed Chairman of the AP Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation.

Mrs. Nair is credited with making significant contribution in the areas of good governance, curbing corruption, file disposal formats etc.
