Tehelka panel gets extension

NEW DELHI SEPT. 21. The Centre has decided to extend the term of the Justice K. Venkataswami Commission probing the Tehelka portal's expose on corruption in defence deals by another four months.

Government sources said this was the fourth extension being given to the panel to enable it to complete the probe on whether there had been any deviation in the purchase procedures and whether the imperatives of national security were taken into consideration in defence transactions.
