Inner Ring Road `overflowing' with garbage

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI Sept. 21. The Inner Ring Road, one of the high-volume-traffic roads, is `overflowing' with garbage dumped on its both sides, causing inconvenience to motorists.

The garbage, allegedly disposed of by some local bodies without the permission of authorities concerned, is being unloaded by lorries during the night time.

The garbage is burnt at night, causing pollution.

The frequent traffic congestion due to the four-lane intersection also adds to the problem.

However, an official of the Highways department said stringent action would be taken against those dumping the refuse on the road.
