All the passengers in the vehicle were killed while one passer-by was grievously injured. Preliminary investigations indicate that one of the passengers might have been carrying the explosive, police said. However, efforts were on to ascertain the cause of the blast. The explosion occurred near Pharhar Nagar railway crossing in Madhoganj. The tempo was plying between Mallawan and Madhoganj when the explosive went off, killing 14 people on the spot. Three of those injured were rushed to hospital where two of them, including a woman, succumbed to injuries, police added. Senior police officials have reached the spot. The site of the blast has been sealed and two teams of explosives experts from Agra and Lucknow are expected to examine the spot. According to a police spokesperson, since the site of the blast was near the Pharhat Nagar railway station, the involvement of terrorists could not be ruled out. Meanwhile, one of the victims who succumbed at the district hospital had been identified as Satish Kumar Awasthi The identity of the other victims could not be established as the bodies were scattered over an area of 200 m. The police personnel, on duty, were going through a tough time collecting the remains. UNI
