Having ``exhausted all judicial remedies available,'' the delegation representing seven Opposition parties met the President, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, here and urged him to ensure that justice was administered. Dr. Kalam is said to have assured the team that he would study the case and do "whatever (was) possible.'' Speaking to mediapersons later, the Congress leader, Pranab Mukherjee, said time was "fast running out" as the deadline set by the Supreme Court for the Uttar Pradesh Government to issue a fresh notification for rectifying the technical flaw to facilitate the trial was September 27. As the Mayawati Government had refused to issue a fresh notification, the Opposition contended that the Bharatiya Janata Party-Bahujan Samaj Party coalition in the State was subverting the rule of law, "unmindful of the consequences of a decision fashioned by political expediency."
