Advani assures all help to slain commando's family

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI SEPT. 25. The Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, today assured the relatives of Subedar Suresh Chand Yadav — the National Security Guard commando who was killed during the night-long operation at Swaminarayan Temple, Gandhinagar — that his family would be extended due benefits for his martyrdom.

Addressing the media at the wreath-laying ceremony here at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Mr. Advani said ``the NSG, of course, would provide its own monetary assistance and other help''.

But the Centre too would assist the family and the Gujarat Government too would ``do its bit.''

Congratulating the NSG Task Force — which arrived here this evening — Mr. Advani said he never doubted its capabilities.

``Right from my days in the Opposition, I have been witness to the efficiency of the NSG commandos and their success in Gandhinagar further underscores this impression. They have done the country proud!''

While Mr. Advani personally placed a wreath on Subedar Yadav's body, wreaths were also placed on behalf of the Union Home Minister for State, I.D. Swami, and other senior Government officials.
