'Maran stable'

CHENNAI SEPT. 26. The vital parameters of the Union Industries and Commerce Minister, Murasoli Maran, are "stable" after Wednesday's surgery to replace a heart-valve.

Mr. Maran is "conscious but is being ventilated", the Apollo Hospitals medical superintendent, Radha Rajagopalan, said today in a press release. "He has been started on anti-fungal antibiotics to control the infection in his blood stream. He will need close monitoring till the infection is controlled." Mr.Maran had undergone an emergency, high-risk heart surgery.
