Lanka has the statistical edge

** Out of the 15 matches played between the two teams at this venue since the first on 25-7-1993, India has managed to win just four matches (by 1 run on 25-7-1993; by 8 wkts on 19-6-1998; by 6 runs on 7-7-1998; by 7 wkts. on 28-7-2001), while Sri Lanka has won 10 with one match declared as no-result.

** This will be the fourth tournament final played between the two teams at this ground. Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup final by 8 wickets on 26-7-1997; India won the Nidahas (Independence) Cup by 6 runs on 7-7-1998 but the home team won the Coca Cola tri-series last year by 121 runs on 5-8-2001.
