Attack on candidates

SRINAGAR SEPT. 28. Four persons were killed and six others, including an NCP candidate, were injured when militants attacked three candidates in Kashmir. Militants detonated a landmine in Pahloo village when the NCP candidate from Devsar, Khalida Mushtaq, was campaigning. Four persons, including Ms. Khalida's father, were killed on the spot. She was admitted to the Army hospital in Srinagar. The National Conference nominee and Shangus MLA, Abdul Majid Mir, escaped an assassination bid when militants ambushed his cavalcade near Denthoo village in Anantnag. In Sirhama Bijbeharaarea of the same district, militants hurled a grenade at a meeting addressed by Bashir Ahmed Butt of the Kashmir Resolution Movement.
