Maran still critical

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI SEPT. 28. The condition of the Union Industries and Commerce Minister, Murasoli Maran, continued to be critical today after he was operated upon for a heart-valve replacement, at the Apollo hospital here on September 25.

In the operation, the infected artificial valve was replaced with a human valve. But the infection resulting from the fungal growth has not been contained, sources said.

This, in turn, had led to complications and resulted in problems in the functioning of his vital organs. The hospital is sourcing technical support from outside, for better management.

There was no medical bulletin from the hospital today on Maran's condition.
