SC rejects Sidhu's plea

By Our Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI Sept. 30. The Supreme Court today declined to interfere with the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissing a petition from the former Punjab Public Service Commission Chairman, Ravinder Pal Singh Sidhu, seeking to quash the second FIR lodged against him for allegedly amassing disproportionate wealth.

A Bench said, "under the exercise of our jurisdiction under Article 136 of the Constitution, we are not inclined to interfere with the High Court order''. Counsel for Sidhu contended that his client was being harassed by the Chief Minister and even though the first FIR did cover the disproportionate assets allegations, a second FIR was lodged against him.
