Letters to the Editor
Sir, This has reference to your Editorial, `The surrender of Sharma' (Sept. 30). The Delhi police displayed their "unusual" tenacity of purpose in getting Mr. Sharma into their custody. But what has deterred them from showing the same sense of commitment all these years in this case? Even now, they would not have been so agile but for the sustained efforts of the press to unearth the truth. The alleged involvement of some big shots, their charges and counter-charges and the unexplained delay in the probe have all made the case more and more curious. In fact, the case has some political, professional, sociological and even psychological dimensions to make it a "murder most foul". The strength and success of our democracy and the judiciary in particular lies in solving such mysteries and the sooner it is done, the better.
M. Somasekhar Prasad,
