U.S. doctor consulted on Maran's condition

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI Oct. 1. The medical team in Apollo Hospitals, which is taking care of the ailing Union Industries Minister, Murasoli Maran, has spoken to Dr. Patrick Goodall from Portland, Oregon, U.S., whose views are being taken while finalising the new regimen of treatment.

A medical bulletin from the hospital here today said that the Minister's treatment was continuing in the intensive care unit and was being closely monitored by a team of senior consultants.

His cardiac status following surgery was normal. The physicians felt that the clinical parameters of his liver and kidney were stable.

The infectious disease team, along with hepatologists, was reviewing the antifugal regimen based on the latest report from the hospital's microbiology department.

"Shri Murasoli Maran is stable, conscious and is being maintained on enteral nutrition," the bulletin noted.
