Letters to the Editor
Sir, Kudos to Prof. Amrik Singh for his timely and passionate appeal highlighting the vital links between the colleges of technical education and industry through his write up `Stakes in technical education' (Sept. 25). Barring a few like the IITs, RECs (now NITs) and other technical institutions of exceptional merit, all other colleges of engineering and technology including polytechnics have failed to establish any durable links with the industry. This is entirely due to the lack of vision and direction from the leaders who are at the helm of technical and engineering education in our country. To stem this rot, it is vital to establish durable links between basic sciences and technical subjects in universities.
G. Azeemoddin,
