SRINAGAR OCT. 3. " Infiltration across the border continues. It never stopped," said the Director-General of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Ashok K. Suri, here today.

Paying homage to the five BSF personnel killed in a landmine blast in Tral, Mr. Suri said that even last night, eight militants who tried to infiltrate were killed in the Poonch sector. An Army captain and a BSF jawan too died in the operation. Having failed to stop people from taking part in the Assembly elections, militants had taken to killing innocent people.

The IG BSF, G.S. Gill, said that after the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf's statement in May the situation had not improved but infiltration had increased. Pakistan was now reviving the militant ranks in Kashmir.
