Talks on bringing back Salem positive: Advani

NEW DELHI OCT. 3. Talks with the Portuguese authorities on the issue of bringing Abu Salem, a key mastermind behind the 1993 Bombay bomb blasts, to India have so far been "positive", the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, said here today.

Asked if the Government had given an assurance to Lisbon that Salem would not be sentenced to death even if found guilty by the judiciary on the basis of charges against him, Mr. Advani said the Government would go by what the Portuguese authorities needed for the purpose. — PTI
