Bring out the truth, says Opposition leader

By Our Staff Reporter

KOCHI OCT. 4. The Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, V.S. Achuthanandan, has demanded that the real facts behind the forged document case and the hawala deal be brought to light.

Talking to presspersons here, Mr. Achuthanandan said the reserve shown by even the `I'-group leaders of the Congress raises doubts about the MLA, Shobhana George's alleged role in the forgery case.

On whether he could agree with the arrest of a member of the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Achuthanandan said it could be proved only when the case was brought to an end. Whether the MLA was guilty or not should be proved before the court, he said.

Pointing out that even official seals of the Police Department had been forged, Mr. Achuthanandan hinted that this might be a deliberate ploy to show that even the police were involved in the scandal.

He said that it was up to the efficient police personnel in the State to bring out the truths. The people have a right to know where the huge amount of money allegedly involved in the Rs. 356-crore hawala deals had disappeared, he said.
