Maran's condition improves

CHENNAI Oct. 5. The health of the Union Industries and Commerce Minister, Murasoli Maran, has improved in the last 24 hours, an Apollo Hospitals medical bulletin said here today.

Mr. Maran underwent a heart-valve replacement surgery at the hospital on September 25.

His treatment is continuing in the intensive care unit of the hospital. "His cardiac status continues to be normal. His hepatic and renal functions are being closely monitored and he is on renal dialysis. He is on oral feed. He remains conscious and alert.''
