Malaysian province counts on TN for software engineers

CHENNAI OCT. 5. Mohamad Tajol Rosli Bin Ghazali, Chief Minister of Perak in Malaysia, has invited the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, to visit his province for furthering the ties between the two countries.

At a meeting the Perak delegation had with Ms. Jayalalithaa, he impressed upon her the need for exploring mutually beneficial ``business partnerships''.

(A total of 10 memoranda of understanding 2 in Bangalore and 4 each in Hyderabad and Chennai were signed by the Perak team, which wrapped up its eight-day south India mission.)

The MoU signed here yesterday were in the areas of travel and tourism, education and training, besides pottery.

Mr. Ghazali told a press conference here that the team viewed south India as a priority zone in the software industry and would lean on Tamil Nadu to tap the potential for software engineers.

Inviting the Tamil Nadu business community to locate operations in Perak, he said the State could join other international players, who were already reaping the benefits of a hospitable and profitable investment environment in Perak.

Samsudin Bin Hashim, CEO, State Development Corporation, said it played facilitator in achieving the Perak goal of providing ``silver opportunities to get golden profits''.
