Andhra Pradesh
The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu's visit to the district today caused a lot of inconvenience to the vehicular traffic on the National Highway No.7. Traffic on the highway was diverted for about five hours between Penukonda and Anantapur. The worst-hit were RTC bus passengers as they were forced to halt outside Penukonda, though they were to proceed towards Anantapur. They had to alight at several stops in between. Other vehicles were diverted to Kothacheruvu and from there to Dharmavaram and Anantapur. Traffic was restored on the NH-7 only after the Chief Minister reached Rapthadu near Anantapur. Bus services to several villages were also cancelled today as several RTC buses were engaged for mobilising DWCRA group women for the `mahila chaitanya sadassu' here. About 30 buses were used for the purpose.
