Asian Games
By Geet Sethi
With the singles gold today, Praprut takes his tally of golds to two and, more importantly, has given the opportunity for billiards to rapidly grow in Thailand. Snooker has become a keenly followed sport in Thailand, thanks to the achievements and pioneering efforts of James Wattana. Praprut's feat will provide a huge boost to the three-ball game in the country where Thai snooker players are treated like footballers in Brazil. One ends the campaign in billiards somewhat disappointed. Yet it was heartening to see Alok Kumar, my doubles partner rise to the occasion and compile that match winning effort of 91 unfinished in the semifinal against Myanmar. Of course, the snooker doubles gold was a huge bonus and we must give our appreciation to Rafat Habib and Yasin Merchant. The cue sport contingent ends up with one gold (snooker doubles), one silver (billiards doubles) and one bronze (billiards single).
