Asian Games
By Our Special Correspondent
For it is from these places that the two pairs of siblings, who have done India proud in the ongoing 14th Asian Games, hail from. Athletes K.M. Beenamol and K.M. Binu and sailors Nitin Mongia and Ashim Mongia also the first set of siblings to win medals for their country at the same Games in the 51-year-old history of the Asian Games. For the Mongias, though, there is yet another reason to celebrate: their silver and bronze adding to the silver won by their father Surinder Kumar Mongia in the Enterprise Class at the 1978 Games in Bangkok. While the medals for the Mongia family came on the same day (Wednesday), the surprise silver won by Binu came only a day after his elder sister Beenamol had emerged victorious in the women's 800m. ``It is a great feeling when you and your brother are among the medals at the same meet,'' said Nitin, while Beenamol, all smiles, could not control her happiness once Binu made it into the medal bracket. ``I feel much more happy now. It gives me more pleasure than my own victory yesterday.'' Who wouldn't be happy with this great achievement of these two pairs of siblings?
