Chemistry, economics Nobel

STOCKHOLM Oct. 9. John Fenn of the United States, Japan's Koichi Tanaka and Kurt Wuethrich of Switzerland won the 2002 Nobel Prize in Chemistry today for advances in understanding the process of life.

They share the $ 1 million prize for developing powerful analytical tools for studying large molecules such as proteins, which can lead to new drugs to tackle disease, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said.

Two Americans, Daniel Kahneman and Vernon L. Smith, have won the 2002 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for pioneering the use of psychological and experimental economics in decision-making.— Reuters
