Inter-State Council reconstituted

NEW DELHI OCT. 10. The Inter-State Council and its Standing Committee have been reconstituted with the inclusion of Anant Gangaram Geete, Minister for Power, replacing his Shiv Sena party colleague, Suresh Prabhu.

The reconstitution of the council and its committee was necessitated following the recent resignation of Mr. Prabhu on the directive of the party supremo, Bal Thackeray.

The council, headed by the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, has six Union Ministers as members and two others as permanent invitees. The council has the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, the Defence Minister, George Fernandes, the Finance Minister, Jaswant Singh, the External Affairs Minister, Yashwant Sinha, the Commerce and Industry Minister, Murasoli Maran, and the Power Minister, Anant Geete, as members. The HRD Minister, Murli Manohar Joshi, and the Law Minister, Jana Krishnamurthi, are permanent invitees.
