By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUMALA OCT. 11. Keeping the tradition, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N.Chandrababu Naidu, donated a pair of silk `vastrams' to the presiding deity, Lord Venkateswara, Tirumala, on behalf of the State Government, on the eve of the `Garuda Seva.'

Mr. Naidu, accompanied by his wife, Bhuvaneswari, carried the `vastrams' (in a silver plate) on his head with utmost devotion, from Sri Bedi Anjaneya Swamy temple, situated in front of the temple complex and walked down towards the temple, in the company of the temple paraphernalia, including the temple elephants, horses, bulls and traditional music. The Union Communications Minister, Pramod Mahajan, and his wife were present on the occasion.

At the entrance of the main temple complex, `Mahadwaram,' the temple priests received Mr. Naidu with traditional temple honours — `Istikapal' and escorted him to the sanctum sanctorum, where Mr. Naidu presented the `vastrams' to the Lord.

The chief priest of the temple honoured the Chief Minister, with the `Sesha vastram' of the Lord.

Later, Mr. Naidu inaugurated the additional Kalyanakatta complex, constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.7 crores, and newly installed Asia's largest solar power cooking system atop the massive Nithya Annadanam complex.
