4 killed

By Mahesh Vijapurkar

MUMBAI Oct. 11. Four persons were killed — three in police firing and one in a stabbing incident — during clashes between Muslim-Hindu groups in Solapur town today after a Muslim organisation called for a bandh protesting the reported blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad by an American Christian clergy some time ago. A BJP MLA, Narsingh Mengji's house was torched.

Police in Solapur said the ``situation is tense, under control and under watch.'' Police forces were being brought in from elsewhere.
