What triggered the mishap was a cloudburst when the procession of the deity was about to start amid a crowd of about 1 lakh that had converged on the hill station for the prime festival tonight. Of the eight seriously injured, seven are from Tamil Nadu and all of them have been admitted to the TTD's Aswini Hospital on the hills. In another tragedy, school headmaster Krishna Reddy from Chandragiri suffered a fatal cardiac arrest while waiting for a glimpse of the deity at the procession. The procession of the deity continued unhindered till late tonight.
