Tamil Nadu
By Our Staff Reporter
Talking to presspersons here, Dr. Ramadoss said the Neyveli protest organised by the industry was to reflect the feelings of the entire Tamil population, irrespective of its resulting in water release by Karnataka. ``Those who are deliberately not participating in the protest are betrayers of Tamil Nadu,'' he said. The Karnataka Chief Minister, S. M. Krishna, lauding Mr. Rajnikanth ``has exposed for whom the fast is being organised''. Dr. Ramadoss appealed to Nadigar Sangam president, Vijaykant, to boycott Sunday's protest. Taking a dig at Mr. Krishna, he said, water deficit in the Cauvery was ``artificially'' and not caused by monsoon failure. The Karnataka Government had expanded its ayacut area served by the Cauvery from 4.42 lakh acres in 1971 to 23 lakh acres, without the consent of the Union Government and the Central Planning Commission. ``Successive Governments in Tamil Nadu had not taken any step to stop it from doing so or present the fact to the people of the State''.
