Letters to the Editor
Sir, The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while thanking you for the article of Firdous Syed under the title, "Post-Taliban dangers" (Oct. 5) strongly denies any kind of presence of Al- Qaeda elements in Iran. The efforts of Iran in eliminating the Al-Qaeda and combating the merchants of death and narcotics smugglers have always been accompanied by strong steps like closing of borders. The overall steps taken by Iran, particularly after the establishment of peace in Afghanistan and in the era of progress and reconstruction, are hidden from none. Any activity from elements suspected of having links with the Al-Qaeda would be dealt with firmly. Hamid Reza Kheradmand, Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, New Delhi
