Tamil Nadu-Chennai
By Our Special Correspondent
This block would mainly cater to free eye camps being conducted through Chennai Vision Charitable Trust and other voluntary organisations. Apart from free treatment, accommodation and medicine for patients and their attendants would be provided with food, the hospital director, Mohan Rajan said today. Free eye camps are being organised regularly in about 200 villages around Cheyyar and Orakkadu extending up to Andhra Pradesh. Patients from these villages are brought to the hospital and mainly operated for cataract using latest techniques. The objective of the programme is making these areas `Cataract Free Zone' by 2005. Even those from the lower strata of society should have access to modern treatment.
