Letters to the Editor
Sir, Your Editorial `Inventing history' (Oct. 14) has highlighted the distortions of historical facts in the social science textbooks prepared by the National Council for Education Research and Training for the schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. The misrepresentation of facts and events is a denial of the right to correct knowledge that should be made available to the children. It cannot be denied that the erroneous statements and materials incorporated in the texts tamper with history. The deletion of relevant facts serve the interests of those bent upon changing history to suit their hidden agenda. C.C Chandy, Melukavumattom, Kerala
