Sachin Tendulkar, who became the first batsman to score 20,000 runs in international cricket on Friday, in action at the Chepauk stadium, Chennai.
** The duck by Sourav Ganguly was the third at this ground by a Test captain. The other captains to record ducks at this venue are Ajit Wadekar (vs. England, Jan. '73) and England's Alec Stewart (Feb, '93). This was Ganguly's 8th career duck in 64 matches, which takes him past Ajit Wadekar's tally of 7 ducks in 37 matches. Ganguly now has the maximum ducks by an Indian left-handed batsman in Tests, although another left-hander, Dilip Doshi, a tail-end batsman has 14 ducks in 33 matches. ** During his knock of 43, Sachin Tendulkar became the first batsman in history to aggregate 20,000 runs in both forms of the game in international cricket. Tendulkar who has 8,483 runs in Tests and 11,544 in ODIs, now has a combined run aggregate of 20,027 runs. In the number two position is Australian Allan Border who has 17,698 runs. Batsmen with over 15, 000 runs aggregate (Tests and ODIs): S. Tendulkar (Ind) 20,027; A. Border (Aus) 17, 698; S. Waugh (Aus) 17,200; M. Waugh (Aus) 16,606; J. Miandad (Pak) 16,213; D. Haynes (WI) 16,135; M. Azharuddin (Ind) 15,593; V. Richards (WI) 15,261; A. De Silva (SL) 15,164; B. Lara (WI) 15,121 ** Interestingly in the last one-year Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid and Tendulkar have been dismissed "bowled" on six occasions each. Their other colleague in the squad, Shiv Sunder Das, has also been dismissed in this manner on six occasions.
