"The foremost priority of the Central Government has been strengthening internal security and it has done its best to curb the menace of terrorism.'' On the spread of terrorism he said, "there have been sensational terrorists attacks such as the one in Gujarat and on the Parliament House but we must take into fact that even a country such as America, with all its military might, could not remain immune from terrorist attacks.'' On external security, he said, "previously, in every war with Pakistan we had to concede some territory but in the only battle fought under the leadership of the NDA not even an inch of the nation's territory was conceded ".
