EC meet on Gujarat polls

NEW DELHI Oct. 24. As a prelude to announcing the schedule for the Assembly polls in Gujarat, the Election Commission today held discussions with officials of the Union and Gujarat Governments on security and other arrangements. The polls are expected in mid-December.

The Chief Election Commissioner, J.M. Lyngdoh, had a meeting with the Chief Electoral Officer of Gujarat, Gurcharan Singh, and others and later met the Union Home Secretary, N. Gopalaswamy.
