Jharkand
JD(U)'s state unit president Goutam Rana Sagar told reporters here today that the Jharkhand government has been ignoring the just claims of minorities and other backward classes, particularly in jobs and educational opportunities. He said a JD(U) state committee recently met the party's central leadership and the Samata Party leader, Nitish Kumar, in New Delhi and apprised them of the situation. ``Except for one deputy commissioner in Jharkhand's 22 districts, no other district has a DC from the two groups'', he claimed demanding a review of scheduled areas citing massive demographic changes in the last 50 years. He said the party would organise a 'Sankalp rally' in all districts from January 30 in support of minorities/ OBCs' participation in every sphere of life. The rally would kick off from Bhognadih village in Sahebganj district and cover all districts, he said, adding a 'Maha' rally would also be organised here in March. Rana, however, declined to comment on the reservation issue saying the matter was sub-judice. JD(U) MLA and Energy Minister Lalchand Mahato was among the three ministers (two others are of Samata Party) to have boycotted a cabinet meeting recently in protest against ``low fixation of percentage'' to the OBC during distribution of fresh ratio limiting 50 per cent reservation.
