By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI Oct. 29. The Central Government today announced that it would release an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance of three per cent for its employees and dearness relief (DR) to pensioners which would cost the exchequer Rs.1,079 crores in a full year. The recent Chief Ministers Conference had discussed a proposal for freezing the DA but failed to arrive at a consensus. The DA would be raised from the current 49 per cent to 52 per cent effective from July 1, 2002, benefiting lakhs of Central Government employees.
